After our daughter first tried their earlier offering (Hub?), my wife and I discontinued our u-verse VOIP phone service and bought OOMA's premium package with three handsets, two lines. Being an often user of Skype, as well as having experienced U-Verse, we found Ooma line quality to be 2nd to none. We had basically no cost (other than the original purchase cost the first year) and am still waiting for any cost our 2nd. We love the long distance rates and phone quality for overseas connections to Peru, Thailand and Malaysia. We love our ability to take our unit north two counties to our daughters when we go there often. Last year we also took our unit to my sisters home in Atlanta when attending a family wedding and our local number traveled with us, phone quality excellent.

My only major detraction is that coming from having a two line house (as many of us do), I have the house wired for two lines, and many two line phones, that basically only one line of that infrastructure is being used. My 2nd Ooma phone line actually is dedicated to one of the Ooma handsets. While that works, it is far from ideal and would like Ooma's great support of standard in-home phone wiring and phone handsets be extended to supporting two line phones and two pairs of wires. (I am told that my one detraction here is not a problem with this older technology of theirs, the hub. But I can't say for certain since we have the newer Telos).Ooma Telo Free Home Phone Service

I was very happy to get Ooma they have a lot of nice features. We have had it for over a year tried serveral times to work with Tech support to get good sound quaility but we get bad sound and voice quality. Moving back to a land line.

My experience with Ooma has been really horrible.

1) Requested my home phone number be ported over from AT&T to Ooma. Someone messed up and it didn't go through. It took a month from start to finish, about 50 (literally) phone calls and 10 hours of phone time to get it fixed. I was without any phone service for a week. There was a lot of finger pointing, but no one took responsibility for it.

2) The call quality was not good. There were echos and delays. The delays made conversations awkward. After 4 months, 2 or 3 calls to Ooma and tweaking the hub settings I decided that it was time to hang it up and go back to AT&T.

3) 6 months after I went back to AT&T I was supposed to get a phone call at 4am from a doctor on call. The call went to my Ooma voice mail! I had also bee having problems with Google voice forwarding going to Ooma voice mail. I had assumed that when I ported the number back to AT&T that the Ooma account would go back to the original. That was not the case. My account was still set to my home phone number and there must have been some online call connection.

4) Contacted Ooma to remove all connection to my home phone number. They did this and wiped out all accounts connected to the hub. They told me that in order to use the hub again the new user would need to pay a $79.99 fee for a new account. Since this is about the value of the hub, it basically means I'm left with a worthless hunk of junk.
